This year, I surprised Mark with a trip to Chaparral Retreat near Watonga. It is owned by a family that I’ve known since my days of living in Watonga. The Barrett’s. Dr. Barrett, my dentist, built the house in the … Continue reading

Utah Sister Retreat

Late April 2011, my sister, Saundra, and I took a Sister Retreat to Red Mountain Spa. First,Sis, thank you so much for taking me on this journey. Lot of wonderful scenery and we took lots of pictures. Each of took classes-some together and some not. We had a marvelous time and plan to do it again.

Nature walk at Zoo

We’ve had a ZooFriends membership for many years. It is well worth the cost and you can go to the OKC Zoo every day if you would like. I like going in the morning while it is still cool and the animals are out.  I got some several good shots. Here are a few of my favorites. God is such an amazing artist and creator.

Sunset in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has some of the prettiest sunsets and sunrises. I hope to get a good sunrise shot soon. These sunsets were taken yesterday evening at Lake Overholser.  I grew up just 2 blocks from this lake.  I was not the only photographer out at the lake taking pictures. Last nite it was nice and cool and the colors kept changing.

Signs of spring

This winter has been full of very cold temperatures and plenty of snow. The blooming of the crocuses this weekend was a much welcomed sight.  Love of nature started with my grandparents. My grandfather would take my cousins and myself on nature walks.  The header photograph is the scene we saw from their farm looking north towards Granite OK. My grandmother would point out birds on the farm and we would look them up in her Peterson bird book. I truly feel at home in nature. My dream job would be doing wildlife and nature photography. May God show me the path to make that dream to come true.

Moments in Nature

During a nature walk at Will Rogers Park recently, I came across a friendly squirrel. I first saw him eating with the geese in the open field on the north side of the park. He later ran ahead of me and crossed the bridge over the waterfall. Then to my surprise, he scampered around the rocks to go drink from the creek. For years, I’ve seen squirrels dig up nuts, run all over the trees and grass but never to drink. So thankful I had my camera so I could capture the moment. This park has given many surprises over the last few months.  Sometimes we all need to just slow down and enjoy God’s handywork.

Feb 2011 Snowy weather

Cardinal in yard

Teenage cardinal

Snow allowed me time at home to do some photography in our yard. Record snow fall this year and we even broke the low temperature record this morning with -5. Yes that is without the windchill.  Just checked OKC is lower than Bradford,PA, one of the coldest places in the US. This is one of the many birds that frequent our yard.

Hello world!

Welcome to my photo blog! I’m going to start posting my photography here. The picture in the header was taken in summer 2010 from the former Goad farm in Greer Co Oklahoma looking to the north. It took my breathe away after I took it. This view is very familiar to me, as it is from my grandparents farm. May have my husband  paint this view. Our grandfather,Bill Goad, took us hiking on this neighbors land many times. The mountain range is the end of the Wichita Mountains at Granite,OK.
